TennoTrap (anti-raid trap)
Description
User Guide
A "trap" channel that acts as bait for compromised accounts and spam bots. Any account that posts a message there is sanctioned automatically, with no involvement from your moderation team.
What it does
- Turns a channel of your choice into a permanently watched trap.
- Posts a clear warning panel there, so that no legitimate member is caught out.
- Immediately deletes the message of any account that writes in the trap.
- Applies a softban: the account is banned and then immediately unbanned, which erases its messages from the last 24 hours across the whole server and removes it — it can then come back.
- Warns the account by direct message, telling it who to contact in case of a mistake.
- Keeps a sanction counter visible on the panel and in the dashboard.
- Allows several traps in the same server.
Quick start (Admin)
- Create a dedicated channel, visible but of no interest to your members, and remove their permission to write in it. A legitimate member should never have a reason to post there.
- Check that the bot can send messages in that channel and that it has the Ban Members permission on the server.
- Open the dashboard, then Security & Moderation → TennoTrap, select the channel and click Add. The bot posts the warning panel there.
- Alternative method: go to the channel in question and run
/tennotrap tennotrap_setup. - Leave the panel in place: it is what warns your members and carries the counter.
Commands
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
/tennotrap tennotrap_setup | Turns the current channel into a trap (administrators only). |
Settings from the dashboard
- New TennoTrap: select the channel, then Add. The bot immediately posts the warning panel.
- Active trapped channels: one card per trap, with the channel name and the number of sanctions already applied.
- Delete the trap: removes the channel from monitoring and deletes the associated panel when that is still possible.
- A Refresh button reloads the list and the counters.
There is no other setting: the trap has no options, and no alternative sanction to choose from.
Good to know
- The sanction is a softban, not a permanent ban: the account is removed and its recent messages erased, but it can rejoin the server afterwards. If you want a permanent ban, you still have to apply it by hand.
- The bot needs the Ban Members permission. Without it, the message is indeed deleted but no sanction is applied and the counter does not move.
- The trap does not apply to the server's administrators: you therefore cannot test it with your own administrator account. Use a secondary account with no permissions if you want to check that it works.
- Do not hide the warning panel and do not rename the channel to something appealing: the trap must stay obvious to a human, or you will end up sanctioning members acting in good faith.
- A useful channel must never be trapped. Any post there triggers the sanction, including a simple hello from a new member.
- Deleting a trap is done only from the dashboard. There is no command to undo it.
- A channel that is already trapped cannot be trapped twice: both the command and the dashboard tell you so.
- If the panel is deleted by mistake, remove the trap and recreate it to get an up-to-date panel; the trap stays active in the meantime.
- The direct message may not arrive if the account has closed its direct messages — the sanction is applied anyway.
- The counter shown is the cumulative total per trapped channel since it was created; it is never reset.
