Server ban
User Guide
A server ban is the final step in the measures set out in article 13 of the terms of use: the bot leaves the server concerned and any later attempt to add it back is automatically refused. This page explains how the measure manifests itself and how to appeal against it.
What it does
- Posts the reason for the measure in the server before leaving, and sends it by direct message to the server owner.
- Makes the bot leave the server immediately.
- Refuses every new attempt to add the bot as long as the ban is in place, re-posting the explanation.
- Counts the return attempts for the TennoCore team.
- Can be issued as a preventive measure on a server the bot has never joined.
The two possible messages
You receive one or the other depending on the situation.
| Situation | Message |
|---|---|
| The server has just been banned | "This server has been banned from TennoCore" — the bot leaves the server, all of its features become unavailable there, and any attempt to add it back will be refused. |
| The bot is added back to an already banned server | "Bot addition refused" — the bot leaves again straight away. The message recalls the date of the ban, and the refusal will repeat on every attempt. |
In both cases, the message contains the reason for the ban and the information needed to appeal.
Where the message is posted
- First in the server's system channel (the one where Discord announces new arrivals). If it does not exist or the bot is not allowed to write there, the first accessible writable channel is used.
- Then, in all cases, as a direct message to the owner of the server.
If none of these channels is available, the measure applies anyway: the bot leaves without having been able to explain itself.
Appealing against a decision
You have 30 days from the ban to appeal to the TennoCore team:
- by email at [email protected];
- or from the TennoCore support server.
State the ID of the server concerned and the points you dispute. A reasoned answer is given within a reasonable time, in principle within 14 days. The ban is lifted if it turns out to have been unfounded or disproportionate. The procedure is described in detail in article 13 of the terms of use.
Good to know
- Discord does not make it possible to prevent a bot from being added to a server. The refusal can therefore only happen on arrival: the bot technically joins the server for a few moments, posts the reason, then leaves. This is in no way a return to favour, and the operation repeats identically on every attempt.
- A ban can be placed on a server the bot has never joined. The rule then applies from the very first attempt to add it.
- The measure applies to the whole TennoCore infrastructure: the custom bots created from the dashboard are covered just as much as the main bot.
- This is not a suspension. A server suspension leaves the bot in place, simply inert; a ban makes it leave.
- A server banned while the bot is down is left as soon as it restarts.
- Lifting the ban is not an automatic return: once the ban has been removed, the bot can be invited back normally, but it is up to you to do it.
- A ban does not automatically delete the data associated with the server: it follows the retention periods set out in the privacy policy and may be the subject of a deletion request.
- The other, lighter measures are described on the Sanctions page.
